Wiglaf doesn't fare to well against a dragon in a 1953 re-telling of Beowulf. From The Wonder Story Books - They Were Brave and Bold. Art by Florence and Margaret Hoopes.
Hmmm, you may be right. The text says the dragon destroyed Wiglaf's shield and beowulf struck the dragon causing "splinters" to fly (possibly the broken sword).
I'm pretty sure that's Beowulf getting chomped. Wiglaf survives the poem unscathed.
