    That line is so over the top that I assume it was meant sarcastically and the "just a gal" in question is the most competent person in the story, who's going to turn out to have to save "all the men" when they spectacularly fail to "handle this."

    But it's hard to tell from a single panel. Do you have the rest of the story to confirm or deny?

    This tale is on several Golden Age sites. But yes, she is being ironic.
