According to this ad that appeared in War Birds #3 (1952), the Spot Reducer is not only a dieting aid, but is excellent for muscle aches and restless nights and can be used "over most any any part of the body - stomach, hips, chest, neck, thighs, arms, buttocks, etc."

You couldn't come right out and say "vibrator", of course. But "electronic anti-hysteria mechanism" has a nice ring to it. Also "orbital sander". Yay for orgasms!
