The Roaring Trumpet

Here is some nice pulp art by Edd Cartier and his interpretation of a couple of Norse Gods. The first illustration of the protagonist meeting a disguised Odin is particularly good, and perfectly illustrates the old, though sometimes refreshing, plot device of a normal human becoming involved in the affairs of higher beings. That concept is a familiar and recurring theme that is prevalent in comic books, television and movies today.

From Unknown (May 1940). Story by L. Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt.
