I was a huge fan of Batman comics in the sixties. I was very young but collected pretty heavily. I was baffled by the TV show, nothing like the book, very campy yet somewhat compelling. Looking back at it, it was genius. Where else you could see Frank Gorshin, Burgess Meredith, Victor Buono and Vincent Price (!) as corny as they were on that series? Not too mention Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt, Cesar Romero and Liberace! Adam West and Burt Ward were perfect, I can't imagine anyone else playing those parts now. Ahhh, the good ol' days!
I remember that TV show fondly. It was campy as hell but pretty compelling. Where else could you see Frank Gorshin, Victor Buono, Burgess Meredith and Vince Price (!) act as corny as that?! Not too mention Cesar Romero, Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt and Liberace! It certainly did not match the comic book, and that always confused me but it still hooked me. Aaah, the good ol' days!
